The fun thing about Limonada suica (Swiss lemonade) is that it’s a Brazilian drink. That really caught my interest and I tried to dig into the reason and the most logical explanation: it resembles a Swiss drink named leche condensada ( condensed milk) .
Regardless of its origin, this is an amazing drink on a hot day. The bitterness from the lime combined with the richness of the condensed milk and the sweetness of the sugar just work super well together.
You need
- 5 limes
- 2cups ice cubes
- 1/2cup condensed milk
- 4cups water
- sugar to taste ( I recommend about 3 tbsp to get a good balance of taste)
Instructions
- Wash the limes, reserve one and slice the remaining 4 into 8 pieces or so ( no need to be fancy) .
- Dump the sliced limed in a blender with water and blend for 10-15 seconds on medium-low speed.
tip: If you blend at high speed or longer than 15 seconds it will get very bitter - Use a chinois or strainer and filter the mixture. Transfer back into the blender
- Add the condensed milk, ice cubes, and sugar. Cut the leftover lime in half and squeeze it into the mixture
- Pulse blend until desired ice consistency, the more you blend, the more of a “smoothie” ish consistency you will get which the kids and I really enjoy.
Saúde!
