(Experiment 176) Pan seared cauliflower steak

Pan seared cauliflower steak

Cauliflower is on sale? Boring? Pfft, I bet you’re a carnivore!

I’m a fan of these steaks — cauliflower doesn’t taste like much on its own, so it absorbs all the flavor from whatever spices you give it.

Give it a try; you’ll be surprised how easy and tasty it is.

(Experiment 176) Pan seared cauliflower steak

Ingredients

  • Cauliflower
  • oil
  • Seasoning of your choice salt, pepper, minced garlic & a hint of paprika is pictured above, your favorite steak spices, or even rubs would work

Instructions

  • The hardest part of this recipe is to carve slices in the cauliflower without them breaking. Remove the steams ( if any) and cut the cauliflower in half. From there, cut slice about 1″ thick . Season your “steak slices”.
  • Over medium-low heat, heat up a skillet (cast iron works really well here). Once hot, add the oil and place your slice in the pan. Cook 3-4 minutes on each side. Be careful not to have your pan TOO hot else you will burn it and it will be raw inside and burned outside.
