(Experiment 188) Honey garlic shrimp

Honey garlic shrimp

Throwing out another classic here: honey garlic shrimp. Prep on this is so simple a kid could handle it, and with a cooking time under 3 minutes, it’s hard to beat — that sticky, sweet-savory glaze comes together faster than the rice you’re serving it with.

Serve this with a side of rice and mixed veggies, and you’ve got a full meal on the table faster than delivery would even show up.

(Experiment 188) Honey garlic shrimp

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 20 large shrimp
  • 2-3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • optional green onions/parsley/coriander
  • 1/4 lemon

Instructions

  • First, we need to marinate the shrimps. In a container or mixing bowl, whisk the honey, soy sauce, and garlic. Reserve about 3 tbsp of the sauce in another bowl. Dump the shrimp in the main bowl, cover, and let it take a ~1-hour nap in the fridge.
  • Heat up a pan over medium heat, put oil or butter. Take the shrimps out of the fridge and put them in the hot pan, do not pour the marinade, just the shrimp. Just a heads up, as the marinade contains honey(sugar) this will start to caramelize which is a good thing as it gives flavor. If your pan was TOO hot, adjust cooking time and perhaps flip them over after only 60 seconds or you will end up will burned crap on those prawns.
  • Cook them about 90 seconds, flip them, squeeze the lemon over them, cook for another minute then pour the reserved marinade over the shrimps. Let cook for a couple of seconds and serve.
