Please stop buying sweet chilli sauce at the grocery and simply make your own. Doesn’t get easier than this and its so much better.
This sauce just has it all, the sweetness, the salty, the spicy and the tangy!
You need
- 1tsp soy sauce
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 grated ginger ( same size as a garlic clove)
- 1tbsp sambal oelek
- 75g water
- 75g rice vinegar
- 65g sugar
- 2tsp cornstarch + 1tbsp water
Instructions
- First, mix the cornstarch and the tablespoon of water together and reserve
- Put all the ingredients in a small pot and bring to a boil. Make sure to stir frequently or it will clump
- When the sugar has melted add the cornstarch mixture and stir until the sauce thickens. 30-45 seconds or so . Note that once it cools off it will thicken even more so don’t cook it too much
